There has been some interest expressed in pie safes. I have taken a lot of pictures of pie safes. It wasn’t until I started putting this set together I realized how many types of pie safes there are.

One of the more common types is the one below. This style can be of the knock-down or flat-pack variety. These were held together with long threaded screws running from front to back fastened with wing nuts. Top is nailed on. Another style is just nailed together. Even many years ago it made made sense not to waste money shipping air. IKEA before IKEA was cool.

There are other types of pie safes with forward facing tin panels with two to eight panels. Many had drawers.

Some have side facing panels.

No matter what direction the panels face, there is no shortage of different panel designs. Like snowflakes, no two panels are alike. I know this isn’t true but close enough for the purposes of this blog.
